Inlays & Onlays
Dental Inlays & Onlays serve to repair teeth that have been fractured or damaged. They can be made of gold, porcelain or resin material and have been used to replace traditional metal fillings to give a more aesthetic look in the mouth. They can also be used as an alternative to a dental crown.
Both dental Inlays & Onlays have a similar purpose; however, Inlays are used to treat the indented top surfaces of the tooth while the Onlays treat larger surface areas.
Both procedures generally require two visits. The first visit is required for the dentist to prepare the damaged tooth, take impressions and installing temporary restorations. Your impressions are then sent to the lab for them to create your Inlays & Onlays. The second visit is to place and bond to your teeth.
